Kuminda.com was created on June 1999 by Softweb Creations, LLC located in Palm Bay, Florida. Softweb Creations is owned and managed by Mr. A. Graaf (BS/MBA) and Mr.N. Engelhardt (BS/MS) who were born and raised on the beautifull island of Curacao. In 1999, it was hard to find local recipes in the USA and the Netherlands, so Softweb decided to create kuminda.com where everyone from the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao could upload local recipes.

Kuminda is a word used in the language of papiamentu which is spoken broughtly in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao. The language is also spoken by some people on some of the islands of the former Netherlands Antilles, which are St.Maarten, Saba, and St.Eustatuis. Kuminda in papiamentu means food and the name seemed proper at the time to use it as the domain name for the recipe website.

In 2001 Softweb Creations,LLC teamed up with Total Digital Internet Solutions N.V. (a.k.a. TDIS Caribbean) located in Curacao, to expand its market in Curacao and the other island of theNetherlands Antilles. Even though the collaboration with TDIS Caribbean did not last, this collaboration brought us Sonia Garmers , Baby Mogen (Komedor Krioyo), , Lila Poulo, Elsa Bulbaai and more to join the kuminda.com website and submit some of their wonderfull recipes that we appreciated greatly. As a result, La Prensa a local Curacao newspaper, picked kuminda.com as the website of the year and we are thankfull to La Prensa for picking our website. The original article can be seen on the left of this page.

Since 2005, there has not been any changes to the kuminda.com website. In 2015 we decided to make some changes to the kuminda.com website to be more tablet and mobile friendly since most hits are coming from these devices. We are currently working also to enable users to submit their recipes to the site and allow users to leave feedback on the recipes.
